Our town was officially given the name of Eagleville in April 1881. Old rumors are that the town got it's name from Eagles being sighted nesting near the settlement. In recent years Eagles are once again being seen in our community.

Bret Smith of "Picture This Photography" was able to get this photo of one of the majestic birds known as the "Bald Eagle" Thanks Bret for sharing it!

My niece told me about this site that has a webcam on an Eagle's nest. I thought someone might like to watch it from time to time. There are 3 eggs in the nest now (3-10-10) Today 3-13-10 I saw
her or him feeding 3 little furry balls. And of course at night you won't be able to see much except the white head of the Eagle.

This web cam is set up in the Norfolk Botanical Garden near Hampton Roads, Virginia
Check back often to see the little eaglets grow!

Here Is A Link to learn more about these eagles.
For instance, the nest is 6' across & 4' deep and weighs from 600 to 800 lbs.!

Resolve to help save lives!
Make this New Year's resolution meaningful

For many people, a new year signifies a fresh start. Some resolve to get healthy, organized, and even rich!   How about making a commitment to help save lives?   One blood donation can help save up to three lives.   You can donate blood every 56 days, or up to six times per year.   You have the opportunity to help save up to 18 lives in 2010!

January and February are difficult months for blood collection.   Blood drives may be canceled due to inclement weather, donors may cancel blood donation appointments when the roads are bad, or when they have cold or flu symptoms, making them ineligible to give blood.

Your donation is needed   So, this new year, consider a resolution that makes a lifesaving difference - give blood. ~ Please donate blood on February 1, 2010, at the Eagleville Community Room from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.   The Community Betterment will serve coffee & doughnuts. Bottles of water & juice will also be available.

All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply.  A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.   Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 with completed Parental Consent Form).   New height and weight restrictions apply to donors younger than 19.

To schedule an appointment, call 867-3110 or Just Show Up!   To Learn More About Red Cross Blood Donations, Click Here
