Sunday, June 5 & June 12, 2011 ~ 10:30 a.m. - Eagleville Christian Church

Diane Nunnelle will be the guest speaker on these two Sundays. She was the minister at the Eagleville United Methodist church and the Otterbein EUB church in the 1980's, and the Ridgeway Methodist Church after that.

A carry-in lunch will follow the June 12th service. People who want to attend services at their own church will be welcome to come for lunch and visit. Of course they will be welcome at our church services too, but we don't want to pull others away from their own church.

Diane has had many interesting experiences since she left here. Among her experiences were a few years in South Africa sponsored by the Kansas City church she was serving. And now that she is retired, serving as tour guide on trips. From time to time she fills in for one of the three ministers on KCMO's Religion on the Line, Sunday mornings from 6 to 8 a.m. There is no doubt but what she’ll have a good message.

A Letter From The American Red Cross

We would like your readers to be aware of the effect that severe winter weather throughout much of the country has had on the blood supply. More than 14,000 blood and platelet donations have been cancelled by the inclement weather since January 1. As a national system, the Red Cross was able to move blood products from unaffected areas to ensure patient needs could be met. But now the blood supply needs to be replenished by all eligible donors.

There is a critical need for donors now. All blood types are needed, especially type O negative. Type O negative is always in high demand because it can be transfused to any patient, regardless of their blood type, especially in emergency situations.

The Eagleville Community Betterment Committee is sponsoring a blood drive in the Community Center on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Call City Hall to make an appointment @ 660-867-3110.

The Red Cross urges all eligible donors in unaffected areas to make an appointment to give blood or platelets in the coming days, and those in affected areas as soon as travel is safe, by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visiting redcrossblood.org. The need for blood is constant. Approximately every two seconds a patient in the United States needs a blood transfusion. Please give.
