This fire was on the south half of the southeast corner of the square.

The Eagle post office was the second post office in Harrison Co. It was opened in 1853 in a log cabin store operated by John Haynes. He acted as postmaster about 2 years. In April 1881 the towns name was changed to Eagleville. Above is a picture of the post office located in the Opera House in the late 1800's, and one of the first mail wagons owned by a Mr Fisher.

In 1843, the William & Catherine (Cook) Lacy family built the first log cabin in the vicinity of Eagleville. Lacy families have lived in the community every since. The log cabin is still standing in the west part of Eagleville.

John Banks married the Lacy's daughter, Mary. They & their family are pictured in front of the cabin at left. The photo on the right is as they appeared in later years. Their children were: Cassie (Mrs. John Swigart); Etta (Mrs. Herb Gray); Harve; Lulu (Mrs. Ralph Hurst) and Nora (Mrs. Art Warner)
