EAGLEVILLE, MISSOURI - OUR PROFILE

The Little Town

I like to live in a little town,
Where the trees meet over the street,
And you wave your hand and say "Hello."
To everyone you meet.

I like to stop for a minute
Outside a grocery store
And hear the kindly gossip
Of the folks moving in next door.

For life is interwoven
With the friends you learn to know,
And you feel their joys and sorrows
As they daily come and go.

So I'm glad to live in a little town
And I care no more to roam
For every house in a little town
Is more than a house - It's home!

Author, Mrs Robert Watt

Although we are a small town, population 325, we are a friendly, caring, love your neighbor sort of town.
We are also a very active little town! As you can see as you look at our Businesses page, Churches, Clubs & Organizations page and our Community Calendar.

We have four active churches within our city limits. They are the Baptist, Christian, Church of Christ and United Methodist churches.

Recreation & Lesiure

There is always something exciting, fun or interesting going on at our school. You can see your friends and neighbors several nights of the week watching basketball games in our beautiful newly refurbished gym, or at the baseball/softball field as they encourage and support our kids in their chosen sport.

Besides the clubs & organizations listed elsewhere, there are several Breakfast Clubs that meet a morning every week, and a Dominio Club that meets every two weeks.

In June (Father's Day Weekend) we have our fair "Old Settlers Days" with many free activities and entertainment. There are also carnival rides and games. Also that weekend is the North Harrison FFA Livestock Show at our new Youth Building and park, and a Draft Horse Pulling Contest.

Four or five times a year we have "An Evening In The Park" or in the fall "An Afternoon In The Park" with free entertainment of country or gospel music, or a combination of both.

Other  Recreation

Eagleville and the surrounding area have many recreational activities. Our ball park has facilities for baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball and a batting practice cage. It also has a playground with slides, climbing towers and covered picnic tables. The school playground is available for after school hours, weekends and summer fun. The City Hall Park has picnic tables and playground equipment. The Park on The Square has picnic tables and a stage for entertainment.

Swimming facilities can be found at the Eagle Ridge Campground 3 mi. south of town, and in our neighboring towns, Bethany, Mo. 15 mi. south and Lamoni, Ia. 13 mi. north.  The Harrison County Lake, between Eagleville & Bethany on Route M, and Nine Eagles State Park, nine miles east of Lamoni, are great places for camping, picnicking, fishing, boating. swimming and hiking.

Missouri's Nature Conservancy sites, known as the Dunn Ranch and the Pawnee Prairie is located 5 miles west of Eagleville. The nearly 3000 acres affords visitors a chance to visit a "1800's" prairie where they can see the native prairie grasses, wildflowers, and the popular Prairie Chicken. Activities for the public are scheduled throughout the year.

Graceland University,  Lamoni, Ia. offers recreational as well as cultural activities to area residents. The Closson Center and Fieldhouse have an indoor track and swimming pool that may be used at certain times during the week. Graceland also has outdoor tennis courts and a newly renovated outdoor track. Additionally, the university has a yearly concert-lecture series in the Shaw Center which provides many fine performances throughout the year.

We are 45 miles from the Lakeside Casino in Osceola, Ia., where a major country recording star is booked for two performances an evening each month.

Bethany & Lamoni have modern movie theatres that show newly released cinema several nights a week.

FOOD & LODGING IN EAGLEVILLE

The Dinner Bell Restaurant

The Square Meal Cafe

Eagles Landing Motel

Eagle Ridge RV Park

I-35 Campground

Eagleville is located on Interstate 35 and therefore have easy access to major markets in nearby larger cities. We are in an ideal location for a distribution center, warehousing etc., since we are halfway between Des Moines, Ia. and Kansas City, Mo. We have land available in our town for expansion and growth.

City property taxes have been eliminated in an effort to attract businesses within our city limits. The city has purchased property that can be sold to individual businesses that want to become established within our town. Our streets are asphalt and regularly maintained.

Eagleville has a new water & sewer system that can meet the needs of future growth, both residential and industrial. We think our town has great potential for growth in both areas. The Eagleville Community Betterment and the City of Eagleville works hand in hand to beautify, improve and upgrade our city.
